Why won't She eat??

Heather Sep 20, 2003 01:18 PM

I got an adult pair of Niger Uros at the last White Plains Show. Both were doing great and gaining wieght. Eatting everything sight. I've been keeping them together but seperate from My other two girls. Well, The Male, Inferno, Is fat and happy. But The Female, Cinder, Has stopped eatting, or so it seems (haven't witnessed her eatting or not eatting). She's dropped a LOT of weight. Now She's to the point where her back bone, hip bones and tail bone are hanging out! I'm really worried.... Why did she stop eatting???? She hasn't been exposed to ANYTHING or Any other animals to pick something up (parasite or illness). Temps are where they should be. Diet is good. Everything is perfect! Why the heck did She stop eatting all the sudden???? Could Inferno be stressing her or keeping Her from eatting? He hasn't shown ANY aggression at all toward her! We tried Forcing a little salad turned into a paster into her mouth. We did Get some into her. Planning on trying that again once more today and a couple times tomorrow. Trying to get Her appitite back up. Help.... What's wrong with Her????

how is her stool? runny or normal if it is runny take her to a vet get some meds and then she should be good. if it is normal i bet the male is stressing her out. I would seperate them even if it just temporary, make sure she starts to eat again, get her to a good weight then introduce her back.
Good luck

Stool is tiny (lack of eatting) but normal. I'm gonn set up another bin for her. Once She's back up to good weight, I'm gonna introduce Her to My other two female and Leave the male alone. I'm hoping next season to breed them.... Don't want Him thinking of Her as a tank mate. We'll see how it goes. Thanks so much!
