my own king -- a thayeri

amazondoc Feb 19, 2010 12:58 AM

Finally, I "belong" in the kingsnake forum of kingsnake.com . I feel like a Real Person at last.

I'm sure this snake isn't as special as many y'all have, but I think he's quite attractive. I haven't received him yet, but here's his pic from the breeder. I'll post better pics after I have him in hand!

Congrats!!! You are getting into my favorite species of snake, aside from the Rainbow Boas... and you are going to love your new little guy. There is just something about Thayeri.... just awesome..

He is a nice looking one, and I can't wait to see pictures of him when you get him.

Here is the prize of my Thayeri collection:

Very nice! Do you plan on breeding?

amazondoc Feb 19, 2010 02:31 AM

>>Very nice! Do you plan on breeding?

Thanks guys!

I have no plans for breeding right now, but you never know what might happen in the future....

And Aubrey, it's partly your fault that I got this guy. I've been drooling over thayeri....well, for years, really....but especially over the last few weeks on the web. Including on your site, after I went there to drool over your rainbows....

I had to wait til I had an excuse before I actually bought one, though. Ya see, I was already getting a corn from Paul...and it's a sin to waste a shipping charge on just one snake....so I just HAD to get the thayeri in order to make the shipping worthwhile.....really, I did.....

Cool what corn did you get? A champaine? I recently got a Ghost brooks from him. Very nice!

Sorry, I forgot to answer this one.

Yup, I bought a champagne stripe from him. I have become addicted to pink corns, amongst other things.

He seems to be a very nice guy to work with.

Big congrats! Your circle is now complete, you have milks and a king (an awesome one at that). Kings and milks are like chips, hard to stop with just one. They have a way of growing on you. Again big congrats!

How many nuns could a nunchuck chuck if a nunchuck could chuck a nun?

Congratulations. Thayeri are awesome snakes to work with due to their unusual diversity of colors/patterns. The one you are getting looks sweet. Good luck!

Congrats! I hope you enjoy. They are great snakes to work with.

Awww, now it's just EVIL to post pics of all the versions I don't have yet. LOL!

Thanks again, guys. I really have been wanting one of these for years. I've had a few other milks and kings in years past, but it has been a long time and I never did have the variables before. I'm excited!

That's a nice-looking animal. Thayeri are lots of fun and very rewarding to work with. (I may be biased since over half of my collection is thayeri.) Congrats on the new pickup.

As an aside, did you get any lineage info on the parents?

No, and I have no idea if this guy might have been mixed with another subspecies at any point in time. I gotta say that's not waaaay up at the top of my list of things to worry about, although in general I do approve of keeping them pure.

nice snake! Now would be the time to get any relevant info on lineage, while it is fresh on the mind so to speak. It may not matter to you now, but if(when, haha) you plan to breed, it will be very important to 98.6% of us! Again, great snake!
