What is the best soil that you can buy at Lowes for an ackie monitor that doesn't have any pesticides, vermiculite, and other harmful chemicals? Also, one that holds moisture relatively well. I heard black soils dry out rather quickly. Thanks!

Either free dirt from your back yard or like a top soil sand mixture.

Check out more soil info on our FAQ at our site, but a good starter store bought mix is what we call the Home Depot mix, of topsoil/playsand/vermiculite in a 50/25/25 mix.
That is a good start. It burrows well, digs well, holds moisture well, holds eggs well, does most everything you need it to. Some folks make it with just soil and sand, that is fine, but that is the basic start.
And remember potting soil is different than topsoil.
