Color Phase of my Dragon?

noskire Feb 19, 2010 07:14 PM

I have my idea but would like the opinion of others with color phase experience. What should I answer when asked about "Sparky's" color phase?

Wow, thats a pretty wild Color Scheme you got going on there on your beardie, really cool. When it comes down to colors, there are infinite amounts of combinations and bloodlines that are possible, unless you were told exactly what it was from the breeder or previous owner.

However, you can narrow it down by the simple signs. Yellow= Usually is a citrus trait (but its not 100% b/c even some of my 100% Orange Phase babies have all yellow in them).

Different combinations of bloodlines will always result in different patterns, colors, and designs.

You maycall it a citrus phase to be generalistic, or it could possibly be a lemon, or sunfire?!?!? Many possibilities, I must say its very pretty & if you do breed it.... I would stick with a "High Yellow" dragon or a very bright "Red" beardie to get a nice combination. Good Luck!

Thanks for the info. I would like to breed him, as you can see by his beard he is in his "I want a female" stage right now. Brought him out of brumation about a month ago. Believe it or not he is 9 years old now so Im not sure he would be viable but it would be fun to try. He has some Sandfire in him I know, I picked him because of his bright pastel yellow. I need to get serious and find him a female. Thanks for the suggestions on colors. Citrus orange or lemon are my first choices. You have some beauties! So if you have a female that you would be willing to part with? My male has blueish accent color to him and I wouldnt mind a female that has some of that also. Moved to Idaho 6 years ago and left what I had there except for him. Hatched one clutch of eggs there. Im getting the bug again. Thanks again for the reply!

9 Years old huh? The oldest one we have is 6 1/2. Thats impressive, we decided to keep him b/c he turned out to be a dwarf male and looks like a juvenile around 14'', just for the sentimental value.

I DO NOT have a female breeder for sale at the moment... If yours was a female I was going to work out a good deal if you wanted my 2 year old Citrus Sandfire "damien" on our site. But its all good!

If you keep checking kingsnake, you will definetly find a female soon with all of the dragons coming out of brumation and people ready to breed holdbacks this year. You can easily see the blue/purple in him. Take good care of him, its obvious he is in good hands to live his full longevity!

To be honest, can't tell any specific morph in this dragon due to the picture quality. There seems to be a purple haze throughout the entire picture.

As for what morph it could be, finding out about what his parents were would be far more effective. Many dragons exhibit yellows/oranges and have nothing to do with the citris line. Yellow/orange colored dragons have been around for a long time, and I am pretty sure they were around before the citris line itself.

My own dragon shows a fair bit of yellow/orange and she has absolutely no citris in her at all.

Thanks for your input. The haze in the darker pic is due to a red heat light in the vicinity of where he was at the time. It seems to get him over near his UVB light better to have a little additional heat near that light. The brighter pic is away from that.
