Hello again!!!

Well, I've finally rejoined the throng of beardie owners. As some of you might remember, my beardie Drake owned me for 7 great years, but he developed problems in his genetics and his kidneys shut down, so I had to put him to rest in late '07 (we keep an oriental dragon urn with his ashes with us always). I stayed away from ANY reptiles for over 2 years until my wife and I chanced upon a local pet shop that had three beardies in it. Two were of VERY poor health and I promptly called VADragonRescue to let them know about it, but the third was very healthy and attentive. I talked long and hard with my wife, and we felt that we could not leave him there to deteriorate like the others did (one was SEVERELY inbred with mouth deformities and near starvation, and the other was listless, thinning, and stargazing..). So, with very little negotiation we rescued our new owner DANTE!

I'll post up pics of him soon, but judging from his size, he's about 6-8 mos. old, and with the current length of tail, he's gonna be BIG. His fat pads are full, his legs and arms are chicken-wing stocky, and his tail has that nice full thickness at the base of his vent. He shows the common leg bumps associated with the males along with the arrowhead appearance, and he's got a little belly on him that's gonna only grow bigger as he gets older. He's attuned to human contact but still a little skiddish, and is curious about everything around him. When we got him to the apartment he immediately got to the floor and started investigating everything (probably planning his great escape route!).

Pics to come soon! And an older pic of my boy Drake at his best.
