2 dragons I got in July on scale. Jersey Red & Dachiu Hypo Pastel

Mattman Sep 20, 2003 04:18 PM

Both of these dragons growth has been excellent. I believe the Chris Allen red to be born around in May, and most likely from the size I got the Hypo pastel at I would say he was a month older then her at purchase. If Chris sees this he can share how old exactly Myah is. Today Myah weighed in at 186 grams at 14 1/2 inches. My Dachiu Hypo Pastel weighed in at 174 grams at 15 inches. I always find my females to have a nice wide body compared to the males. Seems the males grow a bit different in that they grow longer faster and fill up in the buddy last. Just an observation I saw in my 9 dragons 5 females, and 4 males.

Myah is getting ready to shed her tail, and legs in the pic. She's from Chris Allen at www.jerseydragons.com and is from his Red X red line. She a nice rich dark orange color, very different then my other oranges. She seems to color up more and more every shed and is getting some nice color on her beard now.

This is Kami. He's a hypo pastel from Rob & Vicki at www.dachiu.com. I just like his markings, and in pics it is so hard to capture his light lavender markings down his spine in stripes and on the sides. He seems to be clouding up a bit in the body, so a shed is coming. I just love his bright yellow and orange markings which seem to be coming in on his head.

Hope you like the pics

They sure are a good bunch too. Still working with a younger one not pictured, taming her a bit. She still tries to get away, and opens her mouth like brat, but is doing well everywhere else. She too I got in July but she had to be weeks old when I got her or just very small. Think more she was super young cause she is growing steady, but no where near the size of the two pictured. Gees, and the sweetheart Reiko picked out for me in Calif. I just had her a few weeks, and she is just the nicest baby I ever had. Super friendly, and trusting, with a great light color. Doing so good to now. She is my little miracle baby.

She was a June baby!! which makes me even more thrilled to see this much growth so far. Wow, that is super, and expected from Chris. All from him just grew super, and fast for me, but this actually puts her up there with how Foster was at her age, but Foster was a male, and just never stopped growing for that matter, lol.

But wow, these are some nice size babies! Hope they keep up the pace like Foster did.

Outside of Sandy who's GG, our biggest dragon now is one that was the smallest of her group last year, she just grew stead for the past year and a boy we had that was hitting 16 inches at 6 months slowed down and ended up only growing 3 more inches in the next year.

I swear you must be feeding them growth hormone

No Wonder why Candy is so bright, and Foster so big!! LOL must be in the water No to tell you the truth I just aim for 100 grams by 4 months. Mainly because this is the time if they haven't had any growth or health problems before this time I take them all in for stool samples anyway, and for the females close in size I take them out of quarantine to get them used to each other so hopefully in the near future I can get them together in one cage. I like them to have a bit of extra weight before any meds have to be taken. I just feel more comfortable this way if they decide to go off food for a few days it's not a big deal, and they still are right on with their growth afterwards. I was lucky this year with them growing so well I handled all this last month when we spoke about it with a very short cycle, and no lost weight or time at all. I did think Myah was older by the size of her. I'm surprised to have them at above average compared to the others at this age. I keep them on a good steady routine, and with the proper temps and all that as you know they can eat, and eat, and grow inches in some weeks. I'm just real happy whatever I have done for them seems to be working out well for all 9 of them so far, and that's basically all I can ask for. So far so good, and all are doing great. Now just don't ask how much of my time goes to keeping them like this, and how much reading I do a day, lol
