Funny you should mention this. Just today i used some fake vines and
intricately attached them to my real ficus tree, my only ficus tree that has less than 8 leaves. yup...they all fell off. Sometimes things don't quite work out the way you want them to. Anyway, my real ficus tree with fake vines all over it looks kinda nice. And hey, i also have some cages solely decorated with fake branches and vines . Somehow, it seems to work better than some of my real plants. I affixed the plants in such a way that there is so much more space for my cham in the cage, and the space that the flower pot normally takes up is not wasted( i don't use potted fake plants by the way).

LOLLOLLOL
I can picture your plant covered in fake leaves. How embarassing for it, lol. "what tupay??" lol
I think ficus are just a little tricky anyway, I've read a lot about dead ones.
I have a really neat looking tropical tree in mine. I also have little mini palm tree things. They aren't dead yet, plus if you forget to water them the leaves slowly brown on the ends, instead of falling off, to remind you. If you have 3 or 4 in a pot they make a nice little cham hiding place...
I also have some pothos. They can live in a glass of water. HArd to kill. They are nice around the sides to keep in humidity and for privacy. I use these in combo with fake plants. I find they are pretty expensive... I just bought one fake vine, took all the leaves off of it, and tied them to the side of her cage covering one of the bare spots. Try a combo of some of the hardier plants available, and some fake ones. Real ones are really good for humidity, and for O2. I wouldn't get rid of them totally
