I have been breeding my normal famale (aprox. 2400 grams) and pastel female (aprox. 1400 grams) to a male pastel since November and still haven't seen an ovulation. Is it still early or did I do something wrong? Is any one else having this problem?

Keep at it. I've been breeding since the last week of September and I have females that are just starting to get their glow and some who haven't shown anything yet.

It's still early. I started breeding introductions Nov 1st and just got my first ovulation on the 21st of Feb. The rest are just starting to seek the cooler end. Good Luck!! Chris
What does it mean when they seek the cool end of the tank? We have a female who has been in a dish on the cool end and upon adding moss to it she pushed it out and made a depression in the substrate behind it. We are certain that she is a female, but are unsure of the other one being male. We removed it from the enclosure to give her space. Do we need to reintroduce him to her? We are really inexperienced with this situation. Any help?

When they are of breeding size and have been bred they will seek the cool end, do a bowl wrap, or submerge the front part of their body in the water bowl. Check out this link to Markus Jayne. It has excellent info and pictorial of the breeding process. Good Luck! Chris
