Kerby Ross could answer this question way better than I.....
I believe there are three types of mutations where the melanin is reduced or absent:
1) Amelanistics (albinos) Lack all melanin. The "black" patterned area is replaced by white (the absence of color).
2) Lavender Albinos. In my opinion Lavenders are hypomelanistic. They still show some melanin but it is very reduced, much like an extreme hypo Honduran. I do think that Ghost Calkings are a less extreme version of hypomelanism...
3) Blue Eyed Blondes. This mutation in calkings is from a distinct area in California named the Elfin Forest. Their habitat is all but gone due to development. It is a type of hypomelanism but is not compatible with Albinos, Ghosts or Lavenders.
I hope this helps and I hope Kerby chimes in to correct the mistakes I probably made above......LOL
