Hello,
I'm helping a friend out with his ball python that had a live rat chew on its face. I've been keeping it warm and giving it anti-biotic shots, as well as putting neosporin on its face and giving it baths to help it shed off stuck skin daily. The snake is in general OK, but I've run into a bit of an issue. I might need to take pictures but I'm not sure if I would be allowed to post them because they are sorta "graphic"
Anyways, he had a scab on the top of his snout from the injury, and it has loosened up and peeled off, and is now stuck in his mouth. I'm not sure how connected the scab is to the skin that was damaged. The scab makes his mouth stick open and looks uncomfortable for him. What I'm wondering is if I should get out a pair of forceps and try to help him get it out of his mouth? Or just leave it until it peels off on its own or he gets it loose?
The reason I ask is I don't want to damage what has healed, but I don't want him to get mouth rot / infection from having his mouth stuck open.
Unfortunately I'm not too experienced with this sort of thing, but I'm trying my best.
Thanks,
Sean M
