I want a YELLOW cham...

JethrozMom Sep 20, 2003 05:38 PM

I know this means either a diego suarez or an ambliobe panther, but i cant find EITHER For sale! Any suggestions?

I'll settle for red i guess... *wink*...

My veil used to be mostly yellow and turquoise, so im a little spoiled, i guess.

Anybody have particular breeders they like? I'm already considering the Kammers, ive seen some very nice babies of theirs... just iwsh theyd sell em a little OLDER, id ont wanna do the five bazillion pinheads all over my house thing again.

Oh well.
*hugs*

To get a yellow cham, one that is yellow day in and day out, I hate to break it to you, but a nice veiled would be what you need. Panthers CAN have excellent yellow color, but to do that, you either need to have a female for them to show off to, or a male for them to try and scare. Another panther that can have a ton of yellow is a Sambava. A displaying Sambava probably has more yellow in it's body than a Diego Suarez would or even an Ambilobe. Ambilobe's are bright but not nesessarily yellow. Also, if you want red, either choose a Maroantsetra or a Tamatave, but then again, they need to be displaying. I just got a Tamatave from Kammers that is an EXCELLENT bloodline and will be very nice when he matures. Also, Amazing Blue Reptiles has very nice Sambavas and alot of the time they have older ones. At most of the shows I see them at they almost always have a few big females (6 month olds) or some 6 month old males for sale. I'm not sure if they currently have 6 month old male Sambavas, but it's worth a shot. I'll include a picture of a Sambava Male I got from Amazing Blue Reptiles who is coming out very nice with some good yellows and reds. He's only about 8 months old now and colors take well over a year to become their best. He'll get nothing but better. Good luck in your search!

NO! Ha ha, well, there's a decent reptile shop here, called Exotic Pets.... They're a reptile specialty store, but kinda pricey. I still order all my stuff from LLL right now. But there's no shows either. I heard there was one back in '98 or '99 that was an IRBA that was pretty pathetic and they haven't had one since. I wish they would now cause I'd almost be ready for it LOL. I keep driving to San Diego and Pomona for the shows. But there's no real chameleon people here I know of. I heard of a guy on the other side of town that breeds veileds but that's it. I wish I knew chameleon people here to sawp chams with or something. It's a hot desert, maybe it's just not the ideal chameleon place.

From Amazing Blue Reptiles. An excellent breeder in So Cal. He's from the Sunrise bloodline and hatched in Feb. I just put a new pic of him in the photo album and actually he just bred for the first time a few days ago. I'm excited for those eggs. I'll include the newer pic of him. I deleted the one I put in it a month ago.

Tyler-

Do you have a pic of him fired up? This is my male Sambava fired up at the ripe age of 1 year.

Hrm...

Sambavas are very very nice. *crosses the others off the list*

I will have to put some concerted effort into finding one, i know we're having a HUGE (sponsored by bob clark, for you python people out there) reptile show in november, where there SHOULD be a good selection of chams for sale, so hopefully someone will have some good panthers for me to get a look at. At the last local show (a texas reptile expo show) there were no panthers at all, just tons and tons of veils. Not that i dont like veils, i love em, but ive come to the conclusion that a panther is what i need and thus that is what i shall have.

At any rate, If anybody else would like to contribute a good breeder, i'd be glad to check them out!

Thanks for the info guys!

Jamie,
I'm sure you saw it, but there is an Ambilobe for sale by Chameleon Condo in the classifieds. In two of the three pictures, he is mostly yellow...the other one he is totally blue...and I don't think he's actually fired up in either of them. So, maybe he would be yellow most of the time. He's also older, but of course, expensive. He's awfully cute, though.
