Hi im looking for a place to buy a Savannah Monitor baby i have looked all over with no luck at all. The classifieds and all the businesses have all come up dry for me so any help would be awsome. I have had a nice 5x4x4 cage ready for the little guy just need to find him now lol.

The season for imported babies doesn't start for another month or so. There is no season for captive bred babies, they seldom exist, and they aren't less than $100 each.

But there will be a plethora of $10-$20 babies soon. Go with the most reputable seller possible, and do a fecal and inspection upon receiving your animal.

I would recommend LLLReptile.com for baby Savs, and our site for caresheets, FAQ, and other info.

And definitely get a copy of the Sav book by Bennett and Ravi, it is a must have for Sav owners.

Best of luck.

....that I'm looking to unload pretty cheap perhaps you'd be interested. Quite seriously very few people actually breed savannahs and fewer people sell them. I would ask for pictures of the entire process(copulation to hatching) and if they don't have them save your money and get a wild caught one at their actual market price. Robyn was not only right with his advice about cb's for this species he was right about LLL also they are a decent company to deal with and there prices are very reasonable.

You know it does stink but not so bad here in Alaska. I'm only selling it because it really hurts when those frozen Durians fall of the trees and hit you.lol.

What site? Nothing comes up as eranimals.com.

If they are breeding Savs, terrific. If they are importing Sav babies, just as the season is getting ready to start, and sell you one under shady circumstances, that is not cool. You giving them money for a u.s.c.b. Sav, and getting something else, and then saying "oh well, it is good enough" is also quite lame.

If you are going to buy an imported Sav baby, and there are tens of thousands of them coming in soon, at least spend your money with someone that is honest about the source of the babies.

Again, if they are breeding them, fantastic. But every Sav breeder is familiar with the skepticism and rarity of Sav breedings, and should be very proud to show egg pics, adult pics, or other solid evidence of the breeding. And not "oh, actually my friend did it."

I see the ad on the classifieds. They are selling CH Sav babies. Those are captive hatched, meaning imported babies from Africa. There is a big difference between that and captive bred, certainly from u.s.c.b.

Captive hatched babies can be strong babies, although you should still do a fecal on them to check for parasites.
