Are you guys gonna start breeding uro's.
If so let me say youre more than a welcome addition to the uro world.
What made you guys get into them?
Are you gonna go only with ornates or other kinds also??

Jack,
How's it going? I'm still trying to acclimate that Mali. She does not seem to be eating much. Can you tell me what you were offering her, and if she had any preferences?
thanks,

Bill,
The last week I fed her only mixed vegetables, the ones without salt added, because I didnt get a chance to buy more greens, but she also eats dandelion greens readily, and shell probably take mustard or turnip greens.

Try these items if not I can tell you the treat stuff I give her, but she should eat this.

I would do exactly this:

For one week offer her nothing but green peas, with a sprinkle of minerall every other day, you should see her eat a decent amount everyday.
Then the next week, take peas completely out for two days and offer only dandelion greens, shell definitely eat these up.
Then if she is doing really well on those, keep interchanging them for the second week. And then the third week start giving her a regular diet.
She also really likes dry foods, like bird seed, but I would only start offering her some after the first or second week, since she might eat only those and neglect her veggies.

Anyways Ill try giving you a call within the next couple of days, but dont worry shes a good eater and Im sure well get her back on track!

I see that you have a female hypo-tangerine leopard gecko. Could you post a pic of her, I'd love to see what she looks like. When my financial situation gets better I'd like to get a pair of tangs for myself. In the meantime, I like checking them out.

Thanks

The more pics I see of leopard geckos, the more I want some of my own. I'm soooo jealous of you guys
I'm still trying to decide whether I should get young ones or a an adult breeding pair to start.
When I do go to buy one (or two), I'm going to try to buy one from The Urban Gecko.

Thanks for the pics. I've come down with the leopard gecko bug (I want one!!)

This is the hypotang female, I got her at a Pet-Co, she was my first and is my favorite

This is a hypotang boy thats still growing

And this is an albino tang girl called princess

Leos are awesome, they come in great colors, they are allot of fun and easy to take care of.

If you ever have any questions dont hesitate to ask.

Robyn,
Just a couple questions:

1. What is the substate you use again? and where would I look for it on the east coast?

2. Is the round black thing also a hide? And which side has you heat source dircted on it, the stack or the black thing?

thanks,

let me see if i can get these all at once : )

the dirt, and general soil strategy, is laid out in a couple of FAQs at our site, please have a look. we use this dirt for monitors, Gilas, Uros, and snakes, it has lots of applications.

the wood stacks are also explained in the FAQ, although after gazing at the pics for a minute, i am going to go in today, drop the soil level on the basking side (with the wood stacks) another few inches so that i can add 2 or 3 more stacks.

the black plastic is a horse/cattle watering bowl, upside down, and there is an entry on the far side that you can't see. it serves as a basic hide area, and there are four more much smaller hide spots inside of that to provide true hiding spots, but it doesn't get used much at all, except for as a spot to start digging sometimes.

they do dig and burrow in the dirt, they are lizards

we had access to a bunch of captive hatched Ornate Uros, so we set up 4 nice groups. we do intend to raise them up for a breeding adventure, and we do have interest in other species, but it is so difficult to get good captive baby stock in sufficient numbers, and we feel that is a key foundation step to working into a good productive group. for now, it will just be these Ornates.

i am excited about the breeding potential, but we are kinda just chugging away quietly right now, figuring out husbandry, animal needs, and possibilities...

What kind of substrate do you have them on? Do they dig at all?
