Hmmmmmm... well seems rather bizarre, but that looks a heck of a lot like a california king to me. Must be an escapee. Where'd you find him?

I found him under a board near a creek by my house. What else could it be?

I was thinking the same thing, Dexter....an escaped Cal King. But I wasn't too sure.

I was burning a hole in brain trying to remember exactly how he said it. I've been begging my hubby to buy me the trilogy, as much as I watch/rent them, I could've bought 'em by now! LOL Thanks for helping me out w/that...I knew I didn't have it right!

all the other movies were centered around the dinos. The third move though mainly revolved around the people. I found it pretty weak personally. The first two were great though. Andy

Matthew loves the third one and I must admit that I like the whole Spinosaurus or what ever and the terradons or whatever (I'm not up on dino names, 10 years ago I was, but I'm more into modern reps, rather than the long gone ones).

I missed Malcolm in the third movie...he was the best character IMO. I love the whole chaos thing...it's fact.

I desire to become a paleontologist, and watching the JP movies lets you actually see what they could have been like. Very fascinating to me.

meretseger Sep 21, 2003 04:21 PM

If you don't already have it, you should just buy 'Walking with Dinosaurs'. They have less of a tendency to... er... make stuff up. AND they have cynodonts.

Curiousity Sep 21, 2003 04:32 PM

everything that we think we know about dinosaurs by relating them to present day creatures, which could be totally flawed.

meretseger Sep 22, 2003 07:12 AM

The thing is that they're related to present day creatures (they WERE archosaurs), so we really can make some educated guesses. And you can tell a lot from bones. But come on... the Jurassic Park Dilophosaurus was like 6-7 feet long. Dilophosaurus fossils are up to 20 feet long. A 20 foot long dinosaur doesn't need to spit anything at anyone, especially in the early Jurassic period. I think it had everything it needed to take down Anchisaurs and the like.

With all that frog DNA being spliced in (Jurrasic Park 1). I kept waiting for one of the "Dino's to croak (LOL)

meretseger Sep 22, 2003 09:44 AM

Yeah, that was a tad far fetched too.

redmom Sep 22, 2003 12:29 PM

LOL...funny image of TRex hopping and going "ribbet" while chasing allan grant and malcolm....in the meantime the kids vehicle lands in a pond and a brachiasaur flicks it's tongue, grabbing one of the kids...oops!

I am certain it is a representative of the Lampropeltis (kingsnake/milksnake) genus. In Michigan, the only snake belonging to Lampropeltis happens to be the Eastern Milk snake, L. t. triangulum, in which the snake in the pic definately is not (unless it is an extremely off colored individual who traded his saddles and spots for bands!)

That is a Cal King. There isn't any native snake in Michigan with that pattern.

Must be an escapee. Thanks for removing it from the wild.
