Bubba and Homer in their cave

buddy1900 Sep 20, 2003 08:38 PM

Bubba, my collared lizard and Homer, my Emerald share a tank. They're both males and are best pals. Here's a pic of them hiding in their cave. You'd never know they were in there. lol.

Does your emerald do in such a dry hot set up? They are from a more humid type environment , kind of woodsy, they like to climb limbs, and also need a very cool end. I have apair of emeralds, have live plants and spray the tank down several times a day for humidity, I was just wondering how he does in there. Not being smart, just curious? Everything I have read is completely different. Hey I guess as long as hes doing well, thats whats important ! Love that Bubba

Homer is not a true Emerald swift. I've had people describe him as a low land cousin. Doesn't even give live birth. He used to have a mate and she would lay eggs. He's still from Panama but from a lower altitude. Here's a picture of him with my frilled dragon when my dragon was a baby. I've had Homer for over 5 years and he's been in sand the whole time. So you're right with the high humidity for a true Emerald. Just don't tell Homer he's not a real one. hehehe.
