let me re-phrase that. . Do you know of anyone with two nice orange breeders. . with 09's or 10's for sale?

>>Yes, there are good breeders on this site. No, we can't name names.

Is that a rule here? For instance, I'm not a breeder -- so couldn't I recommend breeders whom I think have nice snakes?

Yes, all of those breeders have nice animals. Thanks for taking the time to respond to that Amazon. I talked to Dave Colling yesterday and am on his waiting list. He has very nice animals and seems to be a very nice guy as well. I actually already have a female from Will Bird that I am very happy with. I'd like to pair her up with a real pumpkin orange male. thanks again.

I am probably going to do the same thing you are, but in the opposite direction. I've already got males from Will, and I'm hoping to get a 2010 female from Dave. But there are lots of other great snakes out there!

Actually, I think we can.

I just found this in the TOS:

"It is ok to inquire about (ask for) if anyone knows a breeder of a certain type of pet, or a seller of a certain kind of product, but it is not ok to offer this type of information unsolicited (unasked for). It is ok for someone to respond to a member's inquiry with "I breed that type of pet and would be glad to talk to you about it if you email me," or "I got my cages from XYZ Catalog and they were great." A brief exchange (one single response) indicating that a user knows of, or offers, a resource related to something being discussed by other users, is acceptable as long as no discussion of prices, payment, or similar commercial topics occurs."

I have been surfing rainbow sites for months now. There are quite a few out there with pics of really nice animals.

In no particular order, those sites include:

http://rainbows-r-us-reptiles.com
http://www.slipstreamserpents.com
http://rainbowsdream2006.webs.com
http://www.ectotherms.net

I visited Will Bird (ectotherms.net) just a coupla weeks ago. Nice guy, and at that time he had quite a few attractive babies left -- and most were born around May, so they have good size on em. Dave Collings (rainbows-r-us) is a lot of help here on this forum, and he's got a bunch of killer breeders. I dunno how much he's still got available. Likewise, Aubrey (slipstreamserpents.com) is very helpful here and also has beautiful adults. And finally, Jeff Clark is another very knowledgeable and helpful guy who breeds Peruvians and Brazilians, but unfortunately he doesn't maintain a web site!

There, I think I've advertised for all these guys without breaking the rules.

well i appreciate your help anyway. . I'm familiar with kingsnake. . I guess it's just a waiting game now.

amazondoc Mar 03, 2010 03:07 PM

I say phhht.

There was a thread over on the cornsnake page with a lot of discussion about Cochran corns recently -- in which Cochran himself took part. It started with somebody asking about where to get the best Okeetees. Nobody got offended that I could tell, and useful info was passed along. I'm sure I coud find plenty of other similar examples if I looked around. So I disagree with you.

But that's okay. We're all allowed to disagree.

Snakesitter. . I appreciate you trying to explain this to me. . However, I think I am going to be much better off just going about this a different way. . This thread stuff and all these rules are rediculous to me. I do agree that you shouldn't talk badly about one breeder etc. However, I see no harm in asking, "Hey, anyone know who has two good orange brb breeders? so i can pick up an 09'?" Your response was confusing. . Once again, I'm gonna go about asking herp related questions a different way, people are way too sensitive, and i believe, maybe they need a couple other hobbies/passions.

Hey Guys,

All good points and while it's totally fine to respond to questions, there is a very fine line between being informative and selling or promoting sales on the forums.

KS has classifieds but to post an ad you have to pay a fee. The TOS has terms to clearly prevent "selling" on the forums and undercutting their income from paying members.

IMO from what I've seen the mods will allow questions on who has something, along with answers that joe xyz has some and tom abc has even better ones. The mods will tend to step in when prices are mentioned. Recently saw a thread where somebosy was showing off a just shed litter, in the pics were prices - duh, thread was pulled.

It does make us all tend to step lightly around these questions to avoid issues, some in the past have been put on probation and even banned from the site. Obviously those were more blatant and repeated violations.
