First gray bands, one possible axan???

bhmorrill Mar 04, 2010 01:51 AM

Always loved these guys and finally got a pair. These are Juno Road locale. They are 4 yrs old and should breed this year. The female is just going into her first shed out of hibernation, so things will hopefully get rolling soon. And the male sure looks axanthic to me, but I don't know a whole lot about gray bands...what do you all think?

Male

Female (once again, she is in shed and not looking her best)

I would not jump on the Axanthic idea myself, I would say it is a nice dark alterna phase. For one thing that would mean he lacks yellow pigment. You might be thinking Anerythristic or lacking in red pigment. But either way, if he was not as dark you would likely see some hint or suggestion of his red pigment somewhere.

Hey Ben, welcome to the alterna forum. Lance is right, neither of those is axanthic. Just nice light and dark alterna phase Junos I have one just like your male, except that he is a Loma Alta. Good luck with your pair...
