Whitesided natural?

Hi pit fans
Does the white sided bull occur in the wild, or is it "manmade"?
And is the genetics dominant or ressessive?

I am not sure if the whitesided gene in pits was established from a WC individual displaying the trait, or from breeding a WC normal pair that happened to be het. for the gene. But I can say its a recessive gene with surity.
