Male/Female beardie

glinda_faeries74 Mar 04, 2010 06:24 PM

My female beardie had 20 nonviable eggs. I just introduced another female to the group so no its 1.2. 2 days ago I found my :female" on top and mating with my new beardie. Im confused. Can they change sexes, or can males have eggs.. New to all this...

Very often do wild animals as well as the ones we choose to captively raise... display "homosexuality". Its quite common, some of my females will mimick and mock what the males "Mating Beahvior" should be (black bearding head bobbing) and charges the other females trying to mate?!?!? Its not normal and funny untill my male comes flying around the corner and attacks.

It's called false breeding and is not uncommon when females are housed together. They are so convincing you would often swear that you have sexed the animals wrong. Since there is a male with them it's somewhat surprising. Perhaps he is extremely submissive. How does he react to it?

He just leaves them alone, he is submissive. the girls rule the tank. but he is digging wholes all over the place.

How old is he? Are you absolutely sure he's a he?
