Requesting Breeding Data!

creptilia Mar 06, 2010 10:44 AM

For those of you who do not know me, my name is Ron Michelotti and I primarily breed Boas. I am currently working on my master’s thesis in General Biology and need MORPH breeding data. I have data of my own, but as you may know in science...the more data the better (too bad HSUS and our legislative figures have not figured this out).

Anyway, the data I require is: the description of the breeding (e.g. morph x morph, including sex of the individuals), ovulation and POS dates (if possible), DOB (does not have to be recent), numbers of each morph/phenotype in litter, overall litter size, number of slugs and stills/premies (if possible), pictures (e.g. the breeding, past/present of individual breeders, whole litter, and/or individual babies…if possible) and any other information you feel is relevant (e.g. breeders notes). The breedings I am most interested in are (and variant thereof):

1) Hypo Motley x anything!!! (PRIMARY INTEREST)
2) Motley breedings, especially Motley x Motley
3) Anything Paradigm related!!! (PRIMARY INTEREST)
3) Jungle breedings, especially Jungle x Jungle (include possibles)
4) Arabesque breedings, especially Arabesque x Arabesque
5) Aztec breedings, especially Aztec x Aztec
6) Albino-related breedings (e.g. double and triple het breedings, snows, snowglows, etc)
7) Hypo breedings
8) Anery breedings

This is not a comprehensive or exhaustive list (i.e. I know there is more stuff out there), but feel free to send me anything else you feel is underrepresented or has interesting genetics (or mode of inheritance). We all know how these traits are passed on, but what I am interested is presenting raw, unanalyzed data to students to see if they can develop a case for the inheritance patterns of these particular characters. Feel free to post the requested data on the forum or send the info to me personally. I am simply going to compile the data and develop an involved activity for teachers and professors to use in their courses. There is no hidden agenda for anyone who is apprehensive about supplying me with this detailed information. If anything, this data will promote the interest and education of boas of the general public.

As you may have gathered from the requested breeding info, I am most interested in hypo motley breedings and anything paradigm related as their genetic patterns are fascinating.

Thank you for your time,
-----
Ron Michelotti

it takes time to go back and dig up old records. Last season was the first year where I wrote down every detail of my breedings. I may have to read my archived kingsnake posts to retrieve some of my own data.
