NEW RHINO!!!

iguanaboi Mar 08, 2010 01:42 PM

HELLO ALL I JUST GOT MY RHINO IGUANA ABOUT 2WKS AGO, HE IS MY FIRST CYCLURA. HE IS ABOUT 4-5 MO. NOW, 14" AND COMES FROM TOM CRUTCHFIELD. THIS GUY IS AWESOME AND BOY CAN HE EAT! I GIVE A SMALL DISH FILLED PASS THE RIM WITH GREENS,DANDELION LEAVES, VARIOUS SQUASH, RED PEPPERS, ECT. I ALSO OCCAISIONALLY ADD SOME ZOO MED PELLETS TO HIS DISH BUT HE RARELY EATS THEM. HE ALWAYS CLEAN HIS DISH COMPLETELY. HE IS EVEN STARTING A NEW SHED. HE IS STILL FLIGHTY BUT ONCE IM HOLDING HIM HE WILL CALM DOWN AFTER A FEW MINS. I HAVNT HANDLED HIM MUCH JUST TO CLEAN THE ENCLOSURE AND FEEDING TIME. I PLANNED TO DO THIS UNTIL HE WAS SETTLED IN AND EATING, BUT HE STARTED EATING HIS FIRST DAY SO I GAVE IT 2-3 WKS. BEFORE I REALLY START TAKING HIM OUT. SO I WILL GIVE IT ANOTHER WEEK! HOPEFULLY I CAN GET HIM TO STOP POOPING ON ME LOL, WELL NOT REALLY ON ME ANYMORE,NOW HE JUST POOPS AS SOON AS I OPEN THE LID TO HIS ENCLOSURE AND PUT MY HAND INSIDE! THANKS FOR READING!

Always good to see some enthusiasm. Welcome to the club. Wear long sleeves when you handle your iguana so you don't look like a depressed goth when you go out with people who don't get how cool your hobby is.

LOL!! Although there is a bit of truth to that once in high school my big male green iguana got my wrist pretty good and the next day at school a teacher saw the cut and freaked out and sent me to the guidence councler who equally freaked out and threatened to have me baker acted before I was able to get ahold of my dad who confermed that it was just an iguana!!
