How we doin'........??

JKruse Mar 09, 2010 07:24 AM

Just takin' a moment to ask my herp brethren how this season is going so far. I know some have started a bit earlier in awakening thier prized gems, and some (like myself) are just starting to begin this process slowly. I tend to bring my boys 'n' girls out completely in the beginning of April.

SO, for those that have started a bit earlier....how we doin'?

Mine are in tune with what is going on outside. So it is different time every year. Males are housed with the females year round except during egg laying. Choices, choices choices...

looks like it might be an early spring this year. I hope so.

That is the norm for most of my stuff too. Doesn't bother me in the least either. When they hatch,...they hatch..LOL!

snakes are awakening hungry and ready to go. Had the new colony of mice start producing at just the right time, last years' hatchlings are being fed, some adults are up and rousing, rats up first, kings and milks slowly stretching and yawning.

Hi Jerry,
Great looking Gray Band, and picture. I started to warm up 3 Az. Kings and 2 Thayeri, and 1 Gray Band 2/15. Brought temps up to about 80-85
The Gray Band seem to be find, started chowing in the first week. The Thayeri were a little frigid about eating the first couple of weeks, one would, the other wouldn't. I took the temps up to the low 90's and the Thayeri seemed to do alot better chowing down at every meal.
The Az. Kings aren't interested at all about eating, I think I had 1 out of the three that ate. I've been playing with their temp range from 70 to the low 90's heat gradiant, but their not interested in eating yet, they seem to be staying in the lower temp zones still wanting to brumate.

Everything is up and 'warmed' up.....I don't let the males have a HOT side like during summer, but all have eaten more than 4 times since Valentine's Day.....Actually half of the females are in the blue and one has shed already......

I am attempting to pair the shed female up but I am sure they will not be interested in each other until the next shed cycle......Just not wanting to miss any window of opportunity......I actually put a couple together on and off last week, just to check and see if anyone was horny or not.....LOL

Hey Jerry,
Nice looking alterna, I've got a Hwy 277 that looks similar.

I've brought a few animals up that didn't look like they were doing so well in burmation, but most of my stock is still down, but only for few more weeks.
