Hello,
I haven't posted on here for quite some time. I feel so alone as I have never seen another one like mine out there. I rescued her/him. I thought mine was a female until he prolapsed on me 3 weeks ago. My vet (who is excellent and even on a first name bases with Dr.Douglas Mader)thinks that she may be a he. It is 95% that the prolapse was a hemipene prolapse. He has had a fecal done before, and eats lots of salad does anyone here know what causes a prolapse in a healthy animal? He was on sand which he is know on papertowel.

My vet was excellent, she put him under long enough to place the hemipene back in, and put in two stitches. He is pooping like crazy and is no worse for ware. He is so FAST! My vet said that I responded very quickly & there was no damage at all to the organ. He was a little tender. I have one stitch left to come out and I am scared that he will re-prolapse. Does anyone know how to prevent this? I have increased his calcium to help with the gut. I have cut him off bugs for the most part.

Thanks
wd lady

Here's the little one that I picked up a couple of months ago. He's acclimating well and is a darling little lizard. The vendor that I purchased him from had no clue what he was....just gotta love people that sell stuff that they can't identify.
To prevent a recurrance of the prolapse, make sure your lizard is well hydrated and doesn't get constipated. Spray his salads with water and maybe introduce some juicy fruits. I'm glad you caught it before there was any permanent damage done. Good luck!!

Jiffypop,

I can't believe that somebody finally has one like my Willow. Willow looks exactly like that except that there is less black on his back. From what I can find out he eats mostly greens? What temps do you keep yours at? Thank you so much on the info on prolapses. I couldn't figure out why it happened. My choices were low calcium(supplimented regularly),constipation, or parasites(fecal float done when I first bought him-neg)so to be safe we ordered a fecal oval¶site test(fecal smear). I also started to give more regular calcium(miner-all no d3).I have been giving him a salad daily with mango on it. He cleans up the whole bowl! Do you feed any bugs to yours? What is his name? I will be posting to you alot I am so excited. we are 90% sure that Willow is a male because of the prolapse, but how can you tell the difference between a hemipene/hemiclitoris prolapse? I have only seen one on a monitor. have you found any info on them on the net?

Talk to you soon

See, there are a couple of us out here with clubtails. I keep a basking spot of about 105 for mine, with an ambient temp of about 80. He eats salad daily and I give him a few insects once a week. I'll try to get some better photos soon.

hey,

Does this mean there are three of us with clubtails?Myself, jiffypop, coyote12899? Mine (Willow is about 12 inches tl) what are the names of yours? I keep Willow at 104 and her amb. at 80 and she loves her den. It is the one that they advertize in the magazines with the leopard gecko in it. You can attach it to the aquarium and see them inside. Willows cage is built out of melamine 4x2x2 what size are yours in? Willow eats a salad everyday and cleans it dry! He also likes mango. I only give him silkworms, butterworms now. I'm afraid to give him to much bugs after his prolapse.

Mine club tail's name is THE LIZARD of OZ. I got it back in June or July. He lives in a 29 gallon tank with ladders, levels, a hide, a fake plant. He does not eat worth a damm. Before summer he will be in a new cage in the lizard room. Right now he is in my bedroom. He spends alot of time on my shoulder. I have 2 spiny tails also.

The stitch may or may not still be needed. Losing one of two stitches on a prolapse is a good reason for a re-visit to his vet.

Thanks I agree. I'm very picky when it comes to their care and I have an excellent vet. The one stitch was actually removed by my vet. I was bathing him every night to make sure no feces was caught in the stitches. One stitch was fine but the other one was bothering him, so off to the vet we went. We left the last one in for a week longer because it was a lagre prolapse. My vet said i had a very good eye because it was barely swollen. She said I should have been a vet. I said I'll use my knowledge for my "kids". No fear here when it comes to the vet. I hate people asking questions that should be looked at by a vet. I go to the vet first and then post to learn more from others experences.

thanks very much I love this forum!
