Calcium Sand

Is it ok if i use calcium sand for my 2-3 month old beardie?

if you MUST use sand use childrens playsand, you can get it at the home depot, look for silica free

ok ill use playsand but just out of curosity, why not use calcium sand?

too large and hard to digest it. a dragon may ingest it either by actually eating it, or while doing other normal things like eating crickets (ie it gets some sand alon with the crix). this can result in impaction which will definetely make a beardie miserable and quite possibly kill it

and has been known to cause impaction, its not as digestable as the label suggests, i would say playsand is the lesser evil, just sift out the larger pebbles before putting in your dragons enclosure, and if possible keep the area he eats free of sand, you can use a shelf liner or somerhing similar under the eating area to lessen the amount of sand ingested.
