Lemon Pastel question

voodoomagik Mar 11, 2010 05:40 PM

Hi, everybody,

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I've been doing a lot of searching about this and wanted to clarify:

From what I'm getting a lemon pastel means a pastel which is a co-dominant trait. Is it also correct that the "lemon" part is a polygenic/line-bred thing and not a second trait?

For breeding purposes, a lemon pastel can do anything a pastel can do: make bumblebees if bred with a spider, make super pastels when bred to another pastel.

Also, all pastels are compatible so you can use a lemon pastel to a pastel breeding to make super pastels.

Does this sound right?

Sorry about the long post and thanks in advance.

lemon pastes are simply NERDS kevin mcurleys line of pastel and yes you can make a super breeding the lemon with any of the other lines will make youre super pastel. there is a rare line called the ruppel pastel and it is quite different and i dont know for sure if that line is indeed compatible i talk to casy lazik quite often but come to thank of it ive never asked that question and hes the only one i know who has them and hes made ruppel bees spinner blast ruppels and i think spinner blast ruppels hope this helps regards.............

You're pretty much correct. Lemons can breed with any other line except Enchi pastels...because they're not the same as what we traditionally call pastels.
(I mean, they can breed, you just get pastel enchis, not super pastels).

The easiest thing to do is to drop the "pastel" when talking about Enchis
No confusion when talking to people. Especially when they are new in BP´s...

zactel has the right idea i dont even nor do i consider enchis pastels unless the are a double co-dom pastel x enchi= paste enchi.

zactell Mar 12, 2010 01:24 PM

If you cross an EnchiPastel with a Pastel, the name PastelEnchiPastel is not the very best to use so that is a big reason =)
And if it´s a SuperEnchiPastelSuperPastel or SuperPastelSuperEnchiPastel... =)
EnchiPastel and PastelEnchi is the same snake for me...

Drop the pastel when talkin Enchis :D

Cinnamons used to be referred to more as Cinnamon Pastels that they are now, Black Pastels are still referred to that way. Neither of these or the Enchi's are pastels. Very confusing name choices way back when.

Glad to know I was on the right track.
Also, yes, I had forgotten about cinnamons and black pastels. I also didn't know enchis were a form of pastel. now that you say it though, it makes sense.
Thanks again, everybody!

Enchi is not a type of pastel, Enchi is a base morph and has nothing to do with ANY line of pastel. Enchi bred to a pastel will make a Pastel enchi if you hit the odds. Enchi bred to enchi makes a super enchi. This is why the name enchi pastel was confusing as enchi is not a line of pastel. Now its just called enchi. On another note, for a bumble bee try to find a ruppel pastel if you can they make smoking "stonewashed" bumble bees. Or a jungle pastel makes great bees as well.

Lemon pastel are a line of pastels (and a very pretty one). Enchi pastels are a different morph (I agree, it's time to drop the pastel here), Cinnamon pastels (or better just cinnamons) are another different morph. Black pastels are related to cinnamons in the way mojaves, butters, lessers are related (different mutations of the same gene). Neither cinnamons nor black pastels are "PASTELS".

Lemon Pastels are the best Pastels in my opinion. They don't brown out nearly as bad as other Pastels. Blonde pastels "to me" brown out horribly bad.

You can cross any and all pastels, but if you already have a lemon, save and buy another. Kevin's LINE of pastels is killer.

And enouph with the Enchi. lets start calling it ITCHY.LOL
