Diet and Red Leg

dpoor Mar 11, 2010 08:26 PM

One of my professors has recently offered me some leopard frogs from my developemental bio class to feed to my snake. They mixed up the northerns and southerns and can no longer release them in this area.

The frogs have a pretty bad case of Red Leg disease (bacterial). I'm worried that it may pass on to the snake if i feed them to him. Didn't find any literature about it but if anyone has any insight that would be awesome

I would not feed frogs to a ball python; I would definitely not feed infected frogs. I'm not sure they would even recognize a frog as a food item.

Why deviate from rodents?

I'm sure not an expert but think about what you are asking. Save the frogs (healthy) for a water snake that won't eat.
