I'm not exactly sure what you want here but....
Jersey is closed pretty much for everything I think...
I know people that got yelled at for looking?....sorta...
Jersey is the source for Jersey Temps....from long ago....it used to be open....
....MD ...not sure...think you can still harvest with permits...
not sure what permit is -or requires ......again...alot are still bred from long ago stocks....
.......my one pair was put together the other day...he grabbed her right away...he didn't care what or where ,he just grabbed her right in the middle and held on.......the St Mary's pair was doing things more correctly...he courted, and followed and finally copulated her for a little while...not long..maybe 10 -15 minutes?....
.......hopefully all goes well.........

maybe i used incorrect description of activity......are more temporalis seen in the jersey pines....then oyher place where they range???
Laws aside, the area of the Pine Barrens is well known to hold coastals. They are FAR easier to find there than in Md/Va/NC. I have found them there every time I have ever tried. Even Hubbs found them there! Md is all cut up, and they are fed upon by the more common E.king, racers, copperheads and others: kings are far more common than in NJ. Add to that the proximity to the NE herpers, who dont need to find "secret spots" like in Md. NC coastals are truely RARE, I bet there are far more in captivity now than have ever been found in every year combined. Alot of time has been put into the Eastern shore in the past decade, more than ever before. But even those localities have produced a fair amount of specimens.
are the north carolina temporalis really rare or rarely found.....maybe due the type of habitat....not easily searched or the microhabitat they utilize???....same would go for delmarva....just tore up by agriculture....jersey still has some continuous undisturbed...sort of habitat....combined with the old rr ties...trash dumps...makes it a more easier area to sample?????
I suppose you can say milks can be "locally common" in MD. I doubt if there are more than 25-30 documented NC coastals in the last 25 years! Yes, they live in difficult to hunt areas, but even there they arent "locally common" as they can be in MD. The further north you go the bigger milks get, and they have less competition and predation. You can say it has to do with intact tracts, but in MD they are "locally common" too. I'd say the most common people have in finding them is hunting them on the wrong days. Hunting has to do with a "feel", I found 18 milks in one day last October...under the proper conditions. You have to live there, be able to drop everything and go hunting at that moment....and there arent many guys in MD that can do that. By the way, NO-it was not on my island. And NO-I wont tell anyone what the proper conditions are....it takes years in the field and those that put in the time and know what I am talking about are laughing now. Get out in the field and figure it out! Hubbs couldnt,LMAO!
ive found that triangulum seem to found in pockets aka colonies....i've also witnessed days when snakes that usually "rare" are found in numbers....."not my island"???....sounds like a line from that braveheart movie!!!!
What irony using the word "harvest". LOL. You might wanna ask your friends that belong to the NJ Conservancy....what's the guy's name......Chris McQueen? Yeah, your friends that watch these forums for any NJ activity....right......he might actually know. Keep us posted.
