That's one clean-looking GBG!
Here's one that I found in the Vegas area a few years ago:

Third Eye
The GB is an attractive gopher, no doubt. My personal favorites are the ones from the southern end of their range. I've noticed smaller blotch sizes (more pronounced base color) among some of the NV and UT GBs. Could be a local adaptation to certain habitats. Nice looking snake!
That's an interesting observation. Here's one that I found in Zion National Park (UT) and it has less background color than th Las Vegas example. Maybe the desert forms have evolved to blend in with the sandy substrate they live on.

Quintessientially perfecto GB!
Thanks Brad! I need to find a similar female to pair him with...
Beautiful GB? Is that the one that "got lost" and ended up down near Camp Pendleton?

Yes, he's my one (and only) GB. Would love to find a similar female to pair with. Interesting find yes and I remember being a little disappointed at first when I found out that the CP gopher was a Great Basin and not an SDG (expected). Well over that though with this snake and have since picked up two SDGs from another source.
