A Pic of Knuckles' Home

GeRm Sep 21, 2003 04:35 AM

Hey guys, this is a picture I finally got in which Knuckles will accommodate in for a few months until I have more time to build a bigger and better cage for when it grows up.

I built it so it has two ways of entry, the roof and the front. The roof is made from Perspex and lifts up, and the front are sliding glass doors, making the cage and life a lot easier to do routine maintenance on the vivarium. It has two green basking bulbs (60W each) and a strip light, and when switched on they look fabulous and very jungle like.

Knuckles is still being skittish, but ate about 20 crickets and a mealworm, but he keeps skipping days of eating, dont know why... oh and another thing, I tried to handle him again like I usually do once or twice a day, but this time he went crazy, he ran away and half frilled! I don't have the slightest clue as to why, but suddenly he got very scared of me!

Nice looking cage. They do like to climb so I'd recommend placing the branches on an angle so he/she can climb to the top of the cage. Also, is there a water dish in there big enough for the dragon to lay in? They do like that also.

They will go without eating for a day or 2 every so often. Mine are very tame, but still have days where they don't want to be bothered. My male is so tame that if I'm preparing his food and have his cage door cracked, he'll run out of his cage to the food dish and eat right in front of me (in the middle of the room). He also takes mice out of my hand... but still he has days where he's skiddish and doesn't want to be bothered.

Thanks for the advice and consideration, your right it does need something to climb, but I am constantly adding things to make life easier for the little fellow, I was thinking a putting some kind of mesh or climbing branch anyway up near the hot end of the cage so he can climb that.

There is also a water dish near the cool end, big enough for himself to lay in (it's the white rectangular shape next to the leaves and cave), but when I place him in the water he runs away! I don't know if he has actually established its water since it so clear and see through... funny guy.
