Weird Beardie Question...

AGreenHaven May 25, 2003 06:49 PM

Hi all.

I've been a reader of the forum for a while now, but have never posted before, and now I have a pretty weird ? for all you beardie owners out there.

Does anyone have a picture of what normal and abnormal beardie poo looks like? To me, *ALL* beardie poop is somewhat stinky, so I don't want to run to the vet everytime he poops, instead of the every 6 months, thinking that he has parasites! Please let me know. Thanx all. =)

Just another concerned beardie mother,
(in the S.F. Bay Area, CA--if anyone else is from here by the way)

I don't have a picture for you, but normally it should be formed & dark, not black & tarry, with white urates. If it's loose or runny, it's probably parasites, or too much fruit. Hope this helps!

my beardie poo has a strong green smell..like a compost heap..I know there is no parasites as I had a fecal done in the last week and it was negative. It basiclly smells much like cow poop I gather. It tends to be formed, with moisture covering it (a mucus to help it pass I expect). THe urate should be a chalky white cylinder. I have noticed if more crickets are eaten than greens, it is more firmer in appearance..a bit softer but still formed, if alot of greens are eaten.

No pictures of poop though...not something I considered taking pictures of.
