No. Simply because many people do not know this but the FWC has exclusive jurisdiction over exotic wildlife given to them by the power of the Florida Constitution. That means these Senators and Representatives are wasting their time and making it look like they can do something. They cannot..FWC has the final say and their position is they don't support either of these bills.

That doesn't stop them from trying though, does it?

They try every year and FWC reminds them "they cannot make laws" We do, when it comes to Exotic wildlife. Hate to say it about them, but at least they have some common sense. They know the logistical nightmare it would cause if there was a ban. FL herpers should be damm lucky we got this far, as most wildlife agencies would of pulled the plug a long time ago.

In Florida the agency known as the FWCC makes all the rules regarding exotic animals and neither you, nor your political representatives can do a thing about it due to the agency being granted constitutional authority over all wildlife. The agency answers to a board of Commissioners, but they aren't elected either. They are appointed by the Governor. As long as people continue to be mauled and killed by tigers in the U.S. the next Governor's race could depend largely on a candidate's commitment to overhauling this entire set up.

Umm... well they are right about tigers though... probably shouldn't have a tiger lying about... I see them being sold at the mall and stuff every now and then, it's just wrong

Hi Cliff,

I never said not to keep up the battle, I just told a little known fact that many people don't know about FWC. Remember, they make money of us who have permits with them. Most importantly, they do ask herpers for their opinions are are fairly reasonable.
