Ok let me answer your question with a question. What was that policy the military adopted when they knew bubba just wasn't right but they didn't want to enforce their rules?

Besides making a sell anyway doesn't always happen.you have to be prepared to hold stock for a long time anyway.

If all this crap does get passed, I imagine most folks will go on doing what thier doin but in low key mode.
I'm curious to what some folks will do when the govt comes a knockin down your door and takes your high end boas.

Imagine if you will, you been breeding boas and selling boas for a living for the past 20-30 years..the jackboots come knocking down your door, and they will knock it down if you don't open it.. and they take your boa collection, consisting of hundreds if not thousands of boas, some of which you have worked many, many years to produce. They take that paraglow, the moonglow, the jungle motley sunglow, they take your super albino motley, they take your beautiful jungle paraglows and the sharp snows that you started with an anerythristic and a sharp albino 10 years ago to make. Then they throw you in jail and fine you thousands of dollars, and "humanely" dispose of your animals.

I have to say...I'd be shooting mad and I don't know if I could stand by and see some jerk who by power of the gov't comes into my house and grabs what I love and that puts food on my table.
It enrages me beyond words when I think of the arrogance these folks have and that they are paid to figure out how I should live my life.

This time, its the boas, next time your music or your art. Perhaps they will come and TRY to take your guns, (doubt it) but one thing leads to another.
Think about it..they are called lawmakers..if they stop making new laws they dont have a job. I know the world will be here long after our country turns into a third world zoo like the the places in mexico where the narco drug dealers rule everything and there are 1,000's of murders a year that not one ever gets solved..we are already seeing that....but I imagine 100-200 years from now, which in reality isnt that long...what will lawmakers be doing then? By then they have outlawed everything except the right to work at what they tell you to do and give them 80% of your money...when will the lawmaking stop.... does it go on forever?

This is where these laws are heading...gov't run everything...so ladies and gentleman enjoy your freedoms and boas and the things we work hard for while you are still allowed to.

In spite of all of that I am still glad to be an American , but if we dont watch it, the America that we know and most of us love, that gave us our freedoms will turn into the one that takes them all away.

Dont tread on me!!

Even if all this does pass.... so far none of it bans ownership, at least on the federal level..... BUt I seriously doubt they will be capable of enforcing this... They are already strapped for cash and manpower... they would have to allocate million if not billions of dollars just to begin an enforcement program....

I'm not saying that everything will be OK... and that anyone should risk getting caught...... but knowing what I know about reptile enthusiasts.... I don't see them giving up on their passion....

What will this ban create...?? A very lucrative illicit market for the Reptiles of Concern.....

I forsee many late night meetings at rest stops, and underground reptile swap meets.....

I plan to open the first west coast Serpent Speakeasy or at least be a patron of it.

Lets hope it dont, but let me tell you they do watch...I had FWC come to my house after they saw i made a shipment to canada.

Any how there is a bit of good news it seems..last week when i posted how Trudi Williams (R)(fl district 73) wrote a bill to outright ban ownership, breeding and sale of reptiles, mainly the ones on the fwc ROC list, which will soon probally include boas, i spent a good bit of time on the phone with her folks and I think the saw the light a bit.
Last week when i posted hb709 was titled "reptiles" now it has been revised and its "wildlife regulation" also the language of the bill doesnt seem to be as bad as the previous. Maybe Im being optimistic but it looks like the 20 minutes i spent on the phone educating and sharing my views with good data and genuine concearn, may have made a bit of a differance..who knows.
Im going to follow up with her this week. Id like to get to speak to Trudi in person, there is nothing like an eye to eye meeting.

It is something that needs to be taken seriously and fight the fight now, cause once you lose a right it is hard to get back.

updated bill hb 709

combs reptiles Mar 16, 2010 11:04 PM

this is from the bill 709 here in FL..they have confiscated snakes(page 3 paragraph 3ish), they will imprison or fine and they are well aware of the financial impact it will have on us and the folks in this business as noted on page 4 section c...it drops my jaw how they talk about it so matter of factly, but it seems no concearn to them.
Just some stuff to look at and think about.
These are reptiles of concearn but the boa will soon be on that list.
Their grandfather clause is only good for individual animals for the rest of thier lives, not you as a breeder/keeper, so that means no new animals. Plus its a hundred bucks a year.
OY VEY!!
