Ahhhh the beauty of BLACK

boaphile Mar 17, 2010 07:03 AM

A few shots taken by folks at the Arlington NARBC snake party:

First a few pictures taken by "Big PaPa E":

He "came out" at the Arlington NARBC show.

Then a few shots taken by Mike Prasad at the same party:

More pictures:

And finally, a couple shots taken by the breeder shortly after she was born. Then here she is as a baby with some sibling Colombian babies:

I was very excited for the breeder when he first told me about this critter on the phone and then sent me pictures of her last summer. It's funny because he is originally from Minnesota too and I first met him about 20 years ago! He lived about 5 miles from me at that time and was the closest snake guy I have ever lived near. Go figure. The future is bright for this puppy. Very bright, I mean very dark or something like that. Cool huh!

...then we will just have admire them on here at a distance unless we move to his state but then we would have to leave our animals behind and you wont be able to bring it back home with you...(legally lol)...

Whats up with you and all the negativaty lately about the ban thats not gonna happen? Most of us are trying to get back to enjoying our Boas and not stressing over the politics. This is an awesome new Boa so instead of bummin out the thread enjoy it and your Boas at home and save the negativaty for somewhere else. It's an awesome day out so take ol Mavrick out for some play time and enjoy what you have!

As long as its always in the forefront of our minds, at least it can't "slip" by. I personally think its extremely likely this will be passed, and will make our hobby a complete mess, and will do things like prevent us from legally acquiring different morphs and so forth.

It is undoubtedly a lovely boa though.

Jonathan_Brady Mar 18, 2010 08:04 PM

I feel more and more every day that it's more likely to pass via the USFWS, than not.

i'm obviously not the only one. I'm not saying it shouldn't be on the forefront all our minds as it's very important. My point is,that it doesn't need to be brought up in every new thread. It just bums things out. We need to think positive and continue to fight for our rights and enjoy our Boas and Baby season. Oh,and it's nothing person against MavsDad and I hope he doesn't take it that way. I was simply voicing my opinion because i'm tierd of the talk of the possible ban plaguing every thread!

dan80woma Mar 17, 2010 04:26 PM

The ban wont pass.

Jonathan_Brady Mar 17, 2010 04:35 PM

>>The ban wont pass.

I doubt it will pass the House and the Senate. There are too many other issues that need attention before campaigning starts for this year. But I can't say as much for the USFWS. Remember, the net effect would be the same. Don't let complacency get the best of you.

If this goes unopposed through the USFWS process, our industry is DONE overnight. Heck, even IF we oppose it, they could STILL easily pass it because they believe their own before they believe others. And their own (the USGS) has stated these animals are a threat.

Like I said, take this stuff seriously, and be prepared for the worst. But I think we should fight for, and hope for, the best because we do have a chance.

How is this different from Pete Kahls black boa? (Mtm boa or something like that).

Carlos F. Mar 17, 2010 06:04 PM

So far that I can think of Pete's came out 2-3 years ago and is proven genetic.

tcdrover Mar 17, 2010 05:07 PM

Those baby pics are very interesting, the pattern looks like a
negative.

totally understandable.
There’s a lot of bad news out there, but “it ain’t over till it’s over” OR we give up, right?
Don't sweat it, man. We’re still in the fight…and together!

she is pretty wicked looking, I was thinking maybe some sort of longi or a cross but then seeing the pics with the siblings throws that out of the water. very interesting! In those last two shots with the siblings, she reminds me of a ball python!
