Human health question pertaining to chameleons

Chameleon996 Sep 21, 2003 10:19 AM

If I were to get pregnant could my various lizards be harmful to my babies health? I already have one kid but I didn't have any lizards at that time. I plan on asking my doctor, I just wanted some input from other keepers.

I was 5-6 monthes pregnant when we got our first chameleon. He actually seemed to enjoy crawling up over the big belly I had. I had no bad effects and had a healthy baby baoy in May. Now, I was not aloud to clean out the crickets home, or clean out Roan's poop, but I handled him alot. Make sure you wash your hands immediatly after you handle them, but that is a good practice to have anyway.

I'm currently 8 1/2 months pregnant.

I talked to my doctor about the health risks of our pets. Just be sure to be clean, wash your hands with bacterial soaps and make sure your not digging around in to much mess. (cleaning crix and waste- though I've had to do it a few times myself just make sure your careful)

not to hard of rules I'm thinking. Now the only thing is going to be trying to find time to do all this with a new baby
