one more MBD question

Chameleon996 Sep 21, 2003 10:31 AM

I have two veileds ( 1.1 ). They are the same age, have the same lights, eat the same amout and get the same vitamins. They alternate days outside in the sun. My female came down with a major case of MBD that I don't know if I can pull her through. I am giving her the calcium stuff from the vet and she is really fighting it. How come she got this and the male didn't?

Hi-

The veileds are prone to MBD, it is thought that some are just genetically prone to it and no matter what you do they will get some form of MBD. The NeoCal is the best stuff to be giving, which is most likely what your vet gave you. Another possible cause may be if she is producing eggs, egg production takes allot of calcium. One last thing could be lack of UVB and D3. Hope this helps!
