I'm at a loss here. I have an african house snake (Olivia) that I've had a while. I got her from LLL probably a year and a half ago or maybe more?? Recently she's started having problems eating. The first time I didn't think much of it. I fed her a hopper two weeks ago, came back and it was clear she'd tried to eat it and failed. I just figured it was a bit too big, and so I skipped a week, give her time to recover. This week, I tried to feed her two large fuzzies (think about 7-10 grams each). Now, this is a 100 gram snake; that should not have been a problem. But I watched her start eating one and she got...stuck is the best way I can put it. It's a prey animal less than 10% her body weight, it shouldn't be any trouble. She got the first one about 2/3 down and it looked like she was trying to swallow more but it just...didn't go. After a few minutes she gave up and sort of walked it back out.
Any ideas?? I'm at a loss. My vet's closed for the night but I'll try to get an appt set up...not sure how much she can do though on something like this
