Questions about Taiwan Beauty Ratsnakes

Langi Sep 21, 2003 11:57 AM

Im considering getting one of these snakes. I just wanted to know more about them before I really start getting ready for one. I do know they can get very long (atleast compared to my corns) very quickly and they need atleast a 40gl. Can anyone give me tips on their temperment, price, and how much handling they can take? Anything else is valued to.

Hello,

I own a Taiwanese Beauty Snake... a female. When we were sold her we were given the wrong information and put her on a dry bedding. It really screwed up her skin and made it horribly flakey and sore. They need to be on 70-90percent humidity and have a heat source. Since they are an arborial species we use a light from above. You should invest in building a cage with branches in it for climbing with a water bowl and hide box on the bottom. Put cyprys mulch with the hidebox and keep moist. They LOVE handleing as far as we can tell... she will climb right out to you and just hang out for hours. She is about 6' and 4years old. She is a big eater and an awesome snake. She needs to be fed in a feed box though because she gets aggressive ONLY at that time.
