Hello all, I am curious, if I breed a high white calking to, say, a banded or striped regular one, with more black than white, will I get anything predictable, anything in between or ...???
thank you,
David

Yes....You will get that and it is unpredictable......
Seriously.....too many generations of gene crossing have been done to produce what is in the hobby today.....
So you will get a mixture of looks (in betweeners) and some looking more like each parent......

Thank you John.
Since I dont live in the US, I dont have a lot of calking morphs available , and was thinking of outbreeding some lines with whatever females I have available, then try to steer them back to high white, or whatever I like at the time.

.....and even many wild populations have been proven to have very unpredictable offspring, even when paired up with two that have the same phenotypes from the same locality. And with all the great genetic diversity that is in the many available bloodlines today, it can be similar to a crap-shoot as to what you could get!..LOL!
Once you produce a clutch and see what they tend to produce, you can then get some sort of idea of what to expect in the future, but starting from scratch with two unknowns is virtually impossible to say with any certainty.
Have fun experimenting with them!
