My big BP girl "Drake" laid 13 big beautiful eggs today.
Drake is a rescue I got in Feb 2004 and is at least 16+ years old (previous owner had her 10 years). She is assumed to be a wild caught import.
Back in November, prior to the breeding season, she weighed in at 8.5 lbs on an empty stomach and is about 5 feet in length.
In 2007 Drake gave me 9 eggs (8 good, 1 bad). 7 of the eggs ended up being females. Those 7 girls have been nothing but chow hounds and are producing their first clutches this year. They were bred back to their possible het albino father to see if he proves out or not. The "runt" of the litter is apparently trying to out-do her mother. She gave us 8 decent size eggs. Not sure where she managed to hide all them eggs as we didn't expect more than 4 out of her at most. One of her bigger sisters laid 6 eggs yesterday, but they were huge in size. Now we just have to wait to see what the other 5 girls give us. With all 7 girls giving me lots of eggs, I should have more than enough to possibly prove their father out as being het albino.
