outdoor mite prevention

Flatlander Mar 22, 2010 12:29 AM

This summer I want to build a giant outdoor enclosure for my savannah monitor. Our yard is teeming with garter snakes and I'm afraid they might spread mites to my lizard. Am I just being paranoid? If not, is there a way to prevent mites from taking up residence on my monitor?

Thanks,

Rich

Hi,

Your time is better spent making sure the enclosure meets the requirements of the lizard. If it does, mites will be of no signifigance.

Cheers,
Mike.

Okay thanks.

The cage is going to be awesome, no worries there.

I have to disagree, mites can be problem no matter what. I would just monitor him, if he is acquiring mites spray him with some mite-be-gone.
