Where abouts in SoCal? I am new to Ventura and I am trying to locate some good spots to locate Cal Kings and Cal Mountain Kings. Already found a great place for gopher snakes and ringnecks right near the house. Any help would be appreciated.

Calabasas....Eastern end of Ventura County.

Cal Kings are everywhere....Mountain Kings....tough to find but Malibu Canyon has been the best over the years.

Just got back from Corn Springs where I found a Rosy Boa and a Speckled and the usual run of Chucks, Whiptails, and Desert Iggy's.....goin back tomorrow night.

Thanks for the info. What kind of areas do you normally find the Cal Kings in? I think I have been targeting areas on the edge of the zonata range...my next target area is here in Camarillo where I work...they have been spotted on the road near by. Are you going to post any pics from the rosy boa and speckled? We should take a herpin' trip together sometime if you live in Calbasas...just up the 101 from me.

I'll start a new thread with the Rosy and the Speckled after tonights trip....going night driving to look for Rosy's again in Corn Spring and then back through the Orocopia Mountains looking for Rosy's and a good Lyre to photograph. Would like to get a couple of good Chuck pics....which BTW your mystery lizard is not....BUT...not sure WHAT that is...almost looks like an escaped Agamid of some sort lol.

Check along Agoura road on the South side of the 101 between Kanan Road and Cheseboro...look for tins or boards to flip....also along the 101 in the other side in that same area.

Always up for a trip...going to hit the High Desert as early as tomorrow night and again next week.

Good luck!

Peace, TC

Camping at Lake Casitas in Ojai this weekend...hopefully I will get some herping, while I am there.
