reptiles and the economy

msally Mar 23, 2010 06:44 PM

My husband and I are helpless reptile lovers and we have always wanted out own business to educate and supply healthy captive bred reptiles in our area. I was wondering how the economy lately has effected breeding and selling of reptiles.

Prior to the governments proposal to ban the big 9 constrictors the reptile economy had been relatively unaffected by the general economic downturn. Since then the pricing of the big 9, and to a lesser extent related species, has been impacted dramatically.

In general the reptile industry has moved on it's own pace separate
from the overall economy.

Thanks for the post, I had hoped it was unaffected, it certainly hasn't kept us from our reptiles or any of their needs they're like our children.

We are also not happy with the big 9 situation either and we will be waiting to see what happens. Keep us posted please..
