pair of reduced black miami's breeding

I was just wondering what you think the reason for going off feed is....
I was thinking about this and i predominatly see it only in my males as they move into breeding season and was contemplating the thought that if its a predisposed genitic response that it would be adventagious as it would reduce compitetion for food in the same species alowing the females in an airea a better chance at eating and growth to facilitate egg production.
not a formily formed thought but an idea none the less, opinions welcome.

It has always been my belief that males go off feed to keep them active and on the "prowl" for mating purposes. If they were full with meals, they would be spending more time curled up somewhere digesting their meals basically like a "couch potato" out of circulation.

The last thing I want to do is go for a long brisk walk after a big Thanksgiving dinner..LOL!

Most of my males feed all the way breeding season......I think the only reason that they go off feeding is becouse of the deire to breed and procreate, kinda like it is with deer......Only one thing on there mind and it sure ain't food.....

most of mine never stop eating, it was just a thought i had while feeding and cleaning last night, mostly prompled by the thought of why would an animal go of feed for several monthe with no aparent reason,
