ball python breeding ???

jscianni138 Mar 24, 2010 02:45 AM

I'm really new to snake breeding, and i have a few questions because i wanna make sure i have all the right stuff for my room before i actually start bring the animals inside it.

for starting out would it be better for me to buy a really nice male (i.e. a nice pied male and 2-3 pastel females ) or 2-3 realy nice females and one pastel male or something similar . i am starting out small and hoping to build myself up .

Another thing is were could i find a good book or free online source that is indepth with the process i find some pages with how to but it is very vague .

and if anyone has help or suggestions plz leave a thread i would really appriciate it .

and yea i know my spelling sucks

hooked on phonics didn't worrk to well

*****in my opinion it would be best to get several nice females if you can afford it, a male pastel you can find extremely cheap these days. the problem is that you need adult females to breed....this can take you anywhere from 18-36months to achieve. as soon as you get the females into your colleciton your coundown can begin...unless you buy adult females, which are costly. keep in mind that once you have adult females in your collection....you are set. no waiting games, you just choose who you want her to breed with.

*****search the net for free info, just type in "breeding ball pythons" in google or your preferred search engine. as for books.....get the VPI book, it has everything you can think of and more info wise.
