geoffreyt Sep 21, 2003 01:54 PM

Well people, im comencing the building of the cage from charmpardise's plans but i bought an "oil base stain" is this okay for the chameleon?.. ok... i have a few options on chameleons... Im in contact with a breeder, who has veileds at teh moment and "rainbow phase panther" ready for december... (anyone know basically what a "rainbow phase would look like)
The veileds are $60 (cdn) and when the panthers are ready.$70-80.
There are some tamataves at a pet store for $189.99 and some nosy be for about 189.99.... Opinions?

Hi-

All the stains I have used were oil based. I don't see a problem using it, just allow the stain to dry, and any fumes to dissipate. As for the chameleons, a veiled is a great choice, panthers are to. Most of the time you are better off getting chameleons for a breeder. A rainbow panther is not locale specific, if the breeder cant provide pics of the breeders, I would be cautious about what you are getting. Also if this is your first chameleon an older chameleon 3-6 months will be a better choice. You will probably end up getting one of each!LOL Hope this helps!

Oil is fine, water based is better. (in my opinion of course)

Dont forget to seal it with a water based sealent! Wood can warp pretty easy when faced to 65-75% humidity.

let me know if you need help!
