mojo prude

magicalmorphs Mar 24, 2010 11:58 AM

I have a female 06 mojo that is frustrating the heck out of me!! She was up to size last year and went on a hunger strike just before breeding season. She bred anyway and never developed folicles. This year she's right at 3000g and has been a great feeder through out the year. She has shed Jan 27th and Mar 19. I was hoping this was her pre and post ovulation sheds, but I never witnessed an ovulation. She's still eating and it's making me think she didn't take. Sorry just voicing some frustration here. Thanks Chris.

Chris,

You have every reason to be frustrated. It's tough working your but off all year knowing that you did all you could do to create just the right environment to enduce breeding.

Be patient and don't give up, her next shed could be her POS.

Know that you are not alone in this persuit of happiness.

Good luck

Very frustrating!

Thanks Brian. I know it has it's frustrating moments, but that'll make it all that much sweeter when she does lay. One of the things that makes it frustrating about her (mojo) is I had a few normal girls that I held back the same year that I purchased her in 06. All the normals went last year and they were smaller than she is. She's just testing my patience. My fingers are crossed.......again.... Chris

I have the same issue with a gorgeous pastel female! I feel your pain... at least you're not having issues with a shy male spider as well! (going on 3rd year of bumble bee project... and utterly failing)

I was lucky on that combo. My first "big purchase" was a tiny female spider in 06. She was an excellent feeder and bred at 18 months. She was bred to a mojo and a pastel. 8 eggs 1 bumble bee, 2 mojo bees, 1 pastel 2 spiders and 2 normals. The bumble bee is what got me into the breeding to begin with. Be patient the'll come around!!! Good Luck! Chris

This kinda deal is all part and parcel of attempting to breed ball pythons. Any given season, I quess that 25% of the females that I pair will not give me eggs. Either they don't develop follicles, or they refuse to breed.
You want it to be easier and fool-prood (no offense to the "cornholios", breed cornsnakes.

Chris - Second year w/het Pied girl. She is receptive to the male one or twice in November and then becomes a prude... Last year she started developing follicles, then they disappeared and she was hungry after a 4 month strike. This year I dont even feel follicles yet..

Hang in there..we all have em'

You can't make her develop follicles, but you will know if she is or not.
