Can you specify the genetic makeup of a Pearl?

I've heard the name used before and there is some question as to it's makeup.

From what i've heard it is some strain of amel lavender(opal) that might have used charcoal in the mix. Could it just be a blizzard?

The person that claims to have had a "new" morph and called it Pearl is not around to verify the genetics. As far as I know, there is no one selling Pearl corns. If there is, then maybe they could clear this up.

AS far as i know pearl is a really white snake more so than blizzard i found this in a corn snake book that my cousin bought but i don't have it something like corn snake handbook....i think it is blizzard and charcoal cross or somethin...too be honest i think the one i saw in book was cool but i know nothing about genetics and morphs

Well Tim Rainwater claimed to have bred that strain but he vanished from the herp scene for well...reasons. No one knows the genetic make up of that corn or even if it ever really existed. Several have tried numerous breedings to achieve it but it never came to fruition.

Shows a "Pearl" corn, photo by Rainwater.

You'll notice the wording "seems to have" and "It's also possible that other 'mysterious' factors are involved too."

I don't believe, by the wording, that the specifics of that snake were given by the photogragher.

Only one person can clear this up......Oh Tim, where for art thou?

Meh i'll problably just get a snow corn now as they look cool, aren't as expensive, are commoner. and i can

It's a combination of amelanistic and Charcoal.

...apparently he's now trying to start up a BP breeding business and is looking for 'investors'... If you happen to like your money, I suggest you stay far, far away.

someone borrowed it 2 years ago........

........what te heck is a ""Pearl" corn?......snow lavender?...

maybe........?.......

if so....I may have been the first to hatch them...?.all white from lavs>?..........they are gone.....both dead.......

an all white snake is only good for one thing.......seling for alot of money due to wat it is........as far as beauty....it's all white?.........as are alot of other snakes......

......I once had a snow corn.....from frosted anerythristics bred to each other(sibs)...from Rich Zuchow.ski........LOL...that girl shined and was more like a pearl..........she was probably a frosted snow.......with clear saddles in the center.........made me aot of little corns.......is dead now.........

.........get a good snow.....or an opa....they grow up and fade aot too..........

...........WHO.....HAS .."pearls"???????????????????????????????

...................????????........JY

A male amel het Lav and anery 'A' from one of those dead "Pearls"! I've also got a normal female and a male Opal decended from him. The Opal I've got is anything but white! He's got a lot of color.

Funny how those things get around!

shannon brown Sep 21, 2003 11:57 PM

amel version of the lavender way back in the day.Trust me there was no other morphs in volved. It was the best way to describe the albino lavender and it wasn't till tim was gone a while before they started calling them opals. They are the same thing we just got away from all the rainwater names.Remember the stone washed corns(just a faded anery) and the translusent hypo?????they are even calling his albino leopard gecko strain the las vegas strain now? What happened to his cooton candy corns?

anyways,he is back in it also?He is getting people to back him for big time ball python morphs.

I almost missed your post way down here at the bottom!

Calico corns were another of those follies!

I heard he was trying to work some kind of deal to get some backing. He never did square things up with me!

I'm not really in the loop, are rainwater reptiles no longer availible, or defective. I have been looking into some of his leopard geckos, and the name came up in this chain. I don't wanto buy something that isn't sound.
