lost veiled question

mbmcewen Sep 21, 2003 02:43 PM

still havent found him. I have a HUGE oak tree in my front yard but he would have to cross about 50 feet of short cut, open grass to get to it. question is...would he choose to be vulnerable to get to the big tree rather that just stay in the low trees that are right next to where he was when I last saw him? I guess I am trying to think like a cham and guess which direction he went in. I hate to say it, but it seems hopeless I can take comfort in one thing though, I bet he is happier right niow than he has ever been...at least he is free.

I will continue to look at night with the spotlight. thanks for your suggestions ya'll

Matt-

I still don't think the spot light will help, unless maybe he is at eye level. Chameleons will want to get as high above the ground as they can, but it is worth trying. So if he is high up in a tree, the spot light will be useless. The skin on chameleons are not shiny like some other reptiles, for this reason when you shine the light on the skin, the chameleon will not shine back, you will get more reflections and shadows for leafs then the chameleon. The female in a cage, would be your best bet. Yes chameleons will run across grass to climb a tree. Don't give up yet, you may want to alert your neighbors to keep a look out in there yards just in case. Best of Luck!

If there are a lot of kids in your neighbourhood get them to help look. Offer a $20 reward for hte kid that finds him... kids can find anything!

Just make sure they don't smack it with a stick like some of the madagascar importers do LOL
