OT, baby season starting for me....

rainbowsrus Mar 26, 2010 09:54 PM

Starting out with my BCI's...

Found these lil gems late Thursday right before going to bed. Needless to say I didn't get to bed when planned

Dam - Hershey, 2006 Pastel Motley first time mom..

Sire - Reeses, 2005 Summit reptiles Pastel Salmon, his second litter.

So, more Reeses pieces but with a Motley influence.

Ovulated on 11/24 and shed on 12/16 put her due date from 03/27 - 03/31 so technically a few days early but they were full term, no yolk babies.

20 babies and 4 slugs and looks like a even distribution between the four expected phenotypes, Hypo Mots, Mots, Hypos and normals, most all with some degree of pastel since both parents were pastels.

A few pics where I found em...

The Pastels...

The Pastel Hypos...

The Pastel Mots...

And the Pastel Hypo Mots....

Congrats Dave! Those look great!

I still think you are one lucky (or smart) guy to be able stagger your baby seasons like that. I bet that takes a huge load off your shoulders than having a baby BOMB in fall.

Thanks Aubrey, that was part of my decision to expand into BCI as well as BRB. The two species dovetail together into each others "down times"....

BCI's gestating at the same time I'm breeding BRB's
BRB's gestating while I'm birthing BCI's
BCI's recovering (pigging out) while I'm birthing BRB's
BRB's recovering while I'm breeding BCI's

Thanks Paul, Funny thing is I just started hipping some of my hold for warmer weather babies from 2009. Actually went down in total head count this week by about 15.

Beautiful looking litter Dave. Of course, being the last thing I looked at before I went to bed last night, I was dreaming about getting some of your BCI's all night... You could say I had a pretty good sleep, but I'm still trying to resist the temptation a little longer.

P.S. The lighting advice you gave me worked great. As soon as all my BRB's shed, I'll have to post updated pictures
