Big Mama laid 14 good eggs on March 21st!
Does anyone know if this is a record amount? I've always heard/read that Black Pines usually lay 4 to 8 eggs.
She is now resting and, I hope, getting ready to eat(she has refused food so far).

Holy moly! Is that her AFTER laying? If so, looks like she didn't lose much. What a monster! Are all those eggs spoken for yet?

Yes, that is after laying. I took that photo 10 minutes before I posted this morning.
They are not all spoken for at this time.
I will post an ad again soon.
I still can't believe 14 eggs. I've never read anything near that.
Anyone who has heard of close to that many eggs please respond.
Thanks

Funny how often I see on these forums, responces that do not pertain to the posts (often urgent)from people desperate for an answer, I however have an answer for you my friend: Some pinesnake clutches are of only a few long eggs (3-5"
and some are of many short eggs, (1 3/4 - 2 1/2) it is my belief that the long eggs make faster growing snakes, BUT the big, fast growers usually die sooner 5-8 years vs. 10 -20 years, I had an oldtimer once tell me as a cattlemen here in sarasota back in the 40s plowed up 16 fl pine snake eggs and later found (plowed up) the female burried ten feet away, he did not say how long the eggs were but he said they measured the dead female, 89 inches. hope MY responce was sufficiant. JB,
Thanks so much for the response, I was wondering when someone would answer my question.
I'll measure the eggs when I get home but they are as large as med chicken eggs(2.5" to 3" I believe).
I had a Northern Pine that laid a clutch of 24 good eggs and over 17 years averaged 17 good eggs per year, so I realize pines can lay lots of eggs.
I am wondering specifically about Black pines. I've always read small clutches and 14 sounds like some kind of record so I wanted to hear from anyone what size clutches from B Pines they have known of.
Buy the way, my smaller female Black Pine just laid 10 good eggs

That sure is one great looking Nothern. How long is she? Looks well over 6.
